On January 15th, 2020 Morocco's first photography museum opens in Rabat. Curated by Yoriyas, a young Moroccan photographer, the exhibition is showcasing works by his peers, that currently shape the photographic landscape of the country.
In recent years, more and more Moroccan photographers are working and expressing themselves, more and more exhibition places are welcoming them and drawing public. There is not yet a Moroccan School of Photography, but cultural actors and creators have the will and the desire to lay its foundation.
These dynamics make an exhibition like this possible. It is a historical moment to witness the creation of a place dedicated to photography in Morocco and the light that a national museum sheds on an energetic and diverse scene.
