From March 7 to June 6, 2014, the Galerie Hilaneh von Kories is presenting the Façades & Vitrines series by Stephan Vanfleteren. Though the Belgian photographer has been working on the project for the last ten years, he kept it secret for a very long time.
As though belonging to another era
Though known for his melancholic ambient images and wonderful portraits, Vanfleteren has produced this latest series without including any people whatsoever. On countless trips and while wandering around Belgium, he photographed business façades and shop fronts that seem to belong to another era: he found his motifs in small towns and villages, but even in cities like Brussels and Antwerp. His main interest was focussed on small, independent businesses.
