On 1 November, Elliot Erwitt will be visiting New York's ICP Store to sign copies of his book 'Kolor'. The event is open from 6.00pm to 7.30pm. None of the featured images have previously been released in a book. For this ambitious project, Erwitt sifted through his near-forgotten archive of almost half a million 35mm Kodachrome slides – followed by the mammoth task of whittling it down to this epic collection of around 450 pages.
Kaleidoscope of colours
In most of the photographs, the colour has stayed miraculously preserved, with every evocative detail as crisp as on the day they were taken. With subjects ranging from market places and military camps to world leaders and sassy showgirls, the book is a colourful reflection of the Leica photographer's wry observation and eclectic sensibilities.
