Competition Winner

The award ceremony for the international online photo competition Heartbeat of Nature took place on the penultimate day of Photokina 2014.

Reiner Leifried was awarded a Volkswagen up! city car for his image of an 'irritated alpha wolf'. "It was the perfect way to capture the heartbeat of nature", was the unanimous opinion of the jury.

The competition was a joint venture of Photokina and Erlebniswelt Fotografie Zingst (organisers of the environmental photography festival horizonte zingst). All participants submitted stunning interpretations of the competition's overall theme of biodiversity and conservation.

For the third time, the accompanying exhibition is displayed at the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Zingst, where it can be viewed as of now. The organisers of Heartbeat of Nature have described both the competition and the exhibition as a "visual contribution to raising environmental awareness."
