Peter Piller and Anita Witek both utilise existing photographic material – photographs taken for ordinary purposes and everyday images, which they mainly take from magazines and newspapers. However, both artists sort and question the photographic material in different ways and according to different criteria. By translating the pictures into new contexts and rearranging them – be it by adding (Piller in his show "Belegkontrolle") or deconstructing and montage (Witek in her show "About Life") – they succeed in analysing today’s omnipresent imagery in a brilliant way.

Peter Piller, born in 1968, lives in Hamburg. Since 2006 he has been professor at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig. Anita Witek, born in 1970, lives in Vienna.
