The touring exhibition Eyes Wide Open! 100 Years of Leica Photography is coming to Vienna and will be on display as of December 11, 2015, at the OstLicht Gallery. The exhibition aims to comprehensively reflect the transformation that occurred in photography as a result of the invention of the Leica and its introduction onto the market. Rather than just telling the camera's story in an isolated perspective, the exhibition focusses much more on the visual revolution triggered by technical innovation of Leica.

With numerous photographs complemented by documentary material, the story of 35mm photography from its beginnings up until today is recapitulated. Overall, the exhibition follows the evolution of the technology and the story of photography. Divided into chapters, the display highlights the different aspects of the new 35mm photography – from journalistic strategies and documentary approaches, all the way to artistic works.

In Vienna, the touring exhibition is mainly presented by the Photo Museum WestLicht and the OstLicht Gallery. WestLicht is home to the classic part of the selection and opened to the public on December 4, 2015.

At the OstLicht Gallery, contemporary pieces from Bruce Gilden to Jing Huang are now on display. In addition to the well-known contemporary Leica photographers, series by newcomer talent are also being exhibited. All the works at the OstLicht Gallery are for sale.
