The showcase ‘Itinéraires’ with works by Leica photographer F.C. Gundlach will be presented at this year’s Salon de la Photo, set to take place in Paris from 8 to 12 November 2018.
A major showcase of works by Leica photographer F.C. Gundlach will be displayed at the Parc des Expositions in Porte de Versailles from 8 to 12 November 2018, as part of this year’s Salon de la Photo expo in Paris. Gundlach, who was born in Germany in 1926, significantly influenced the nature of fashion photography in the second half of the twentieth century – with the city of Paris playing a vital role in his work throughout his career. Having learnt his craft at the ‘Private Lehranstalt für Moderne Lichtbildkunst’ in Kassel (studying under Rolf W. Nehrdich), Gundlach worked in various photo studios until 1952, including as an assistant for Harry Meerson in Paris.

“Paris was the centre of the world,” Gundlach says about the French metropolis. Comprising 120 photographs, Itinéraires retraces the photographer’s development throughout the decades, and simultaneously explores his special relationship to Paris.
