For the past 15 years, Frauke Huber and Uwe H. Martin have been documenting the processes of contemporary agriculture – highlighting the industry’s complex interconnections and supply chains in artistic-documentary images.
‘LandRush – Ventures into Global Agriculture’ is comprised of three chapters:
‘White Gold’ (9-channel video installation, 2007 – 2012) addresses global cotton production.
‘Landrush’ (6-channel video installation, two linear documentary films and an interactive iPad app, 2011 – present) analyses the impact of large-scale agricultural investments on rural economies and land rights, the boom of renewable fuels, the redistribution of land, and the future of agriculture worldwide.
‘Dry West" (7-channel video installation, 2014 – present) takes a look at water politics and the manmade landscapes of the American West.
An accompanying catalogue of the same title was released on June 12, 2021. The analogue-digital hybrid publication goes far beyond a printed catalogue, and opens up an extensive archive of 57 short films and interviews created throughout the 15 years of the duo’s research.
