The exhibition title is derived from Silvia Plath’s poem ‘Two Sisters of Persephone’, in which the American writer interweaves the mythological figure of the Greek goddess with autobiographical elements.
Finnish photographer Anni Leppälä explores the female characters within the context of her own experiences and other literary works, while Nazif Topçuoğlu approaches the topic with a primary focus on Turkish society.
The exhibition Sisters of Persephone continues at the Leica Gallery Istanbul until 3 March 2018.
