IMAGES WHICH STAY WITH US

November 7, 2015

The Johanna Breede Photokunst Gallery in Berlin currently presents a solo exhibition by acclaimed Leica photographer Thomas Hoepker, open until 28 November 2015.
Following exhibitions on the work of Stefan Moses, Robert Lebeck and Max Scheler, the Johanna Breede Photokunst Gallery is now showing images by Thomas Hoepker – one of the last great photojournalists for Germany's Stern magazine who used their unique visual style to show us aspects of our ambiguous reality.

For more than six decades, Thomas Hoepker's pictures for magazines such as Twen, Stern and GEO have captured history in the making: Andy Warhol behind transparent foil, Muhammad Ali at the hairdresser, the grey cityscapes of East Berlin. To this day, few photojournalists of his generation have been able to match Hoepker's eye for those extraordinary moments when world events are concealed within small, obscure stories.

The solo exhibition of works by the former president of the Magnum Agency continues until 28 November 2015.
