Timeless Vision

April 24, 2026

Leica Camera Japan celebrates the 20th anniversary of the first Leica flagship store in Ginza, Tokyo, with a special-edition camera and a high-calibre exhibition.
Twenty years ago, in April 2006, the world’s first Leica Store opened its doors in Ginza, Tokyo’s most exclusive shopping district. To celebrate this anniversary, Leica presents a strictly limited variant of the Leica M-A in a hammertone finish. This continues the Store’s tradition of marking key milestones with special editions – namely the 5th-anniversary Leica M9-P with a hammertone finish and black vulcanite leatherette, and the Leica M-P (Typ 240) Titanium, released at the ten-year mark in 2016.

The anniversary also applies to Leica Gallery Tokyo, which is integrated into the upper floor of the Ginza store. From April 26 to July 19, 2026, the gallery presents the special exhibition Timeless Vision, comprising 35 works from the Leica Photo Archive Collection. The showcase, which was curated by Karin Rehn-Kaufmann (Art Director and Chief Representative of Leica Galleries International), features images by Elliott Erwitt, Sebastião Salgado, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Constantine Manos, Jürgen Schadberg, Bruce Gilden, René Burri, Robert Doisneau, and Marc Riboud, as well as representative works by renowned Japanese artists Herbie Yamaguchi, Kikuji Kawada, and Yoshino Ōishi.

An interview with Shiyo Takahashi, Manager of Leica Store Ginza, and Karin Rehn-Kaufmann can be found in the current issue of LFI.
