Peter Bialobrzeski’s exhibition ‘Übers Meer’ is on view at the Peter Sillem Gallery in Frankfurt, Germany, until August 26, 2023.
Frankfurt’s Peter Sillem Gallery presents the exhibition ‘Übers Meer’ (Over the Sea) by Leica photographer Peter Bialobrzeski, continuing until August 26, 2023. Bialobrzeski’s seashore photographs allow us to experience something immediate, the presence of something sublime – the memory of an idealised notion of a landscape. His images can also be read like a poetic meditation on transience and change – conjuring up mysterious stories like the sinking of Rungholt, known as the Atlantis of the North. At the same time, they explore the relationship between man and nature through the formal and contextual interplay between the human figure, the horizon and the sea.

Born in 1961, Bialobrzeski ranks among Germany’s most influential contemporary photographers. His work has been recognised with numerous awards and is exhibited worldwide. Up until 2021, Bialobrzeski was teaching as a professor of photography at the Bremen University of Arts.
