75 Years of LFI: A glimpse into the future (1)

Maria Oliveira

September 10, 2024

On the occasion of the 75th jubilee of the LFI magazine, the editorial team asked young Leica photographer friends what their wishes for the future are. We are now introducing their answers in pictures and texts.
Alongside classic Leica photography, it’s important to the LFI editorial team to promote young, modern positions, and to give them a place within the magazine, looking ahead and being excited about everything that is to come. With this in mind, let yourself be inspired by their pictures, thoughts and ideas, and join us in remaining open and curious about the future of photography – with surprising images and the icons of tomorrow.

Maria Oliveira: What I wish for the future

The submerged worlds and their mysteries, the sky populated by black holes beyond the calculations of quantum physics, the intricate communication of trees, the organized system of roots and the pathways of their sap. The unfathomable ocean rifts. The abysses of deserts.
We must not forget.
There’s a lot to say in a hug or when we guide an animal to a safety place.

We are minimal. Mutable, but eternal.
We must not forget.

It’s wonderful to share the space where everything breathes.
