Leica X2

Developing the series
In May 2012, the X1 was replaced by the new Leica X2. The main difference to its predecessor was the X2's new, larger-sized APS-C CMOS sensor, offering an even higher resolution of 16.5 megapixels (16.2 effective megapixels).

The X2 featured the X1's tried and tested, fixed-lens Elmarit 24 mm f/2.8 Asph, though it had been improved in terms of speed and autofocus precision. In contrast to the X1, the X2 was available in two versions – black or silver. Leica also introduced an external electronic viewfinder to be used with the X2.

A high-end camera in every other way, the X2 had one weakness: its 2.7 inch TFT-LCD display with 230.000 pixels, which was already slightly outdated when it was used for the X1.
