History of Photography Research Award

The History and Archives section of the German Photographic Association DGPh has been granting an award since 1978, in recognition of research made into the history and theory of photography.
The award, with a submissions deadline of September 30, 2018, is directed at researchers in the fields of humanities, cultural sciences and social sciences, whose scientific papers offer a well-founded, original and innovative contribution to photographic research.
The History and Archives section of the DGPh-History of Photography Research Award is granted every two years for works that focus on photography and photographic theory, as well as the societal meaning and the impact of the medium. It is directed in particular to scientific newcomers.
