Gentle Poetic Visions

In 2023, Henrike Stahl spent several months at the Château Palmer in Bordeaux, documenting the work of the winemakers with complicit sensitivity – observing, experimenting, and literally planting her prints in the earth so that new images might blossom.

A German photographer based in France, Henrike Stahl uses hybrid practices to highlight the infinite possibilities of reality, and establish a dialogue between worlds. For her, plurality is a guarantee of richness: she likes to crumple, cut and experiment with paper without using tricks or artifice: “I like working with living matter, focusing on the tactile aspect of photography.”

The arch will be among the clouds (on view from 5 April to 22 June 2024) marks the second edition of the INSTANTS residency programme, an artistic adventure devised by Château Palmer and Leica. An accompanying book, published by Filigranes, is available from 9 April 2024.
