Born in Herdecke in 1985, Forkarth studied photography and media at the Fachhochschule Bielefeld and photography at the Bezalel Art Academy in Jerusalem. He got his diploma in 2012 and since then has been working as a freelance photographer in Dortmund and Amsterdam.

Sebastian Forkarth

Sebastian Forkarth came in first at the Best Portfolio Awards! On December 5, the winners of the Portfolio Review were announced at the Haus der Photographie in Hamburg's Deichtorhallen. Since then, Forkarth is the proud owner of a Leica X Vario donated by Leica Camera AG. Will he be using it in the near future in the Kurdish region of northern Iraq? We spoke with him about expectations and current projects.
