Born in 1998, Sara Messinger is a documentary photographer born and raised in a New Jersey suburb of Philadelphia. She began studying photography at NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study and went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in History, Documentary, and Memory. In her last year of school, her focus shifted from evaluating the role photography had in documenting history to making her own photographic work around New York City. Since then, she has gone on to do special projects and portrait commissions with both The New York Times and New York Magazine.
