Maria Jauregui Ponte’s series ‘Wo Fuchs und Hase’ (ongoing since 2018) centres around wild animals that venture into human habitats. In a rural village in Germany’s Mecklenburg region, Ponte uses a wildlife camera for night-time shots, and goes out in the day to capture the traces the animals left behind.
In his series ‘Estorninos’, Aitor Ortiz captures the breathtaking murmurations of starlings along the Basque coast: thousands of birds flock together into tight formations, sweeping and darting through the sky in a fluid, unpredictable choreography. The artist then uses technological ingenuity to turn this natural phenomenon into mesmeric structures on empty canvasses.
