Born in 1989, Mathieu Richer Mamousse has been making documentary series for several years, exploring themes such as religiosity, tradition and folklore. Through his travels he explores the meaning of community practices, and deals with marginalised or endangered social groups. He lives in Paris and works on commercial assignments and for the French and international print media. Anima is his first book publication.

Mathieu Richer Mamousse

The Latin word ‘anima’ means breath or soul. It is an apt way to describe the work of the French photographer Mathieu Richer Mamousse, who joined pilgrimages around the world and explored the spirit that connects all those on the journey.
