Jonas Wresch was born in Bad Dürkheim, Germany, in 1988. After finishing his A-levels in 2007, he completed a six-month internship at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
In 2015 he completed his studies in photojournalism and documentary photography at the Hanover University of Applied Sciences. His work has been exhibited at various festivals around the world. Wresch is a member of the Agentur Focus photo agency. He received the Freelens Award in 2016, as well as the STERN Grant scholarship award from July 2016 to June 2017.

Edgar Tumiña, the protagonist of a reportage on Colombia's conflict and dedicated peace activist, has been murdered. Photographer Jonas Wresch and Stern reporter Jan-Christoph Wiechmann are supporting his family through the sale of prints from their documentary work.

Resolute Support for Camp Shaheen

In November 2017, Jonas Wresch spent five days at Camp Marmal in North Afghanistan, reporting on behalf of the German magazine Stern. Around 900 German soldiers and 60 international trainers are currently stationed at Camp Marmal as part of NATO’s Resolute Support Mission – whose objective is to train the Afghan military at the nearby Camp Shaheen for the fight against the Taliban.
