Born in 1974 at Lake Tegernsee, Bachmeier studied photography in Spain and history in Munich. He is a member of the Freelens agency and n-ost-Nachrichtennetzwerk für Osteuropa e.V. (news network for eastern Europe), a region he has specialised in as a photographer. He was in China for the first time in January, 2017.
