An exhibition by Sascha Kletzsch will be showing at the eigenArt Gallery in Munich's Volkshochschule Süd from 26 June to 31 July 2014
For more than 38 years, smoke was billowing from the chimneys of the heat and power plant in Munich's Obersendling district. Furniture manufacturers KARE bought up the plant after its closure, with the aim of turning this monument of industrial history into a contemporary industrial site. Photographer Sascha Kletzsch documented the elaborate conversion process.

His photographs of the disused building hint at what life and work must have been like on this site in times long past. He also documents the disassembly and reconstruction of this steel colossus, as it transforms into a modern manufacturing and show-room space which skillfully unites old and new architectural elements.

Sascha Kletzsch has been based in Munich since 1990. As well as specialising in portrait, industrial and architectural photography, he is the founder of peekpac Publishing. His book Des Photographen Reise (The Photographer's Journey) details the building's dramatic transformation in the form of an artistic photographic documentary.
