Firmware updates for the S system

September 19, 2014

A must-have for anyone working with the Leica S-System
At Photokina 2014, Leica not only introduced two new cameras for the S system (the Leica S Typ 007 and the Leica S-E), but also presented the most comprehensive firmware update for the S system to date. It is a clear indication of Leica's commitment to support users of the S system on an ongoing basis.

To benefit from the new improvements available for the Leica S (Typ 006) and the Leica S2/S2-P, users can simply download the updates free of charge from the Leica homepage.

Improved AF Performance
Particularly the firmware update FW 2.4.0.0. for the Leica S (Typ 006) offers a number of improvements which have already been integrated in the new Leica S (007). Most notably, a newly developed autofocus algorithm significantly increases the camera's AF performance, as well as enabling considerably faster and more precise focusing.

By synchronising the focus with the most recent corrections made by the predictive autofocus, the camera is able to achieve optimal focus in the most direct way – so that the AF now works not just faster, but also more quietly.

Try it – you will feel as though you are working with an entirely new camera.
