A legendary photo book, a private photography collection and three former assistants: these are the components that gave rise to the latest exhibition at the Helmut Newton Foundation. The showcase, which opens on 6 June 2019, marks twenty years since the release of Newton’s first major art book – the monumental volume SUMO (published by TASCHEN in 1999).
The showcase is complemented by the presentation ‘Three Boys from Pasadena’, featuring photographs by Newton’s former assistants Mark Arbeit, George Holz and Just Loomis. In addition, the exquisite private collection of Helmut and June Newton, which has recently been entrusted to the Foundation, will be shared with the public for the first time: more than 50 valuable vintage prints in their original frames can now be viewed in June’s Room, in parallel to the showcases SUMO and Three Boys from Pasadena.
