While the screens of this year's Berlinale Film Festival are once again telling countless stories in 'moving images', the city's
imago fotokunst gallery will be showing a selection of surreal, cinema-inspired stills by photography artist Kathrin Karras.
To create her series, Karras worked in a temporarily disused cinema. Projecting scenes of old silent movies and horror films onto the screen, the artist then superimposed them with image fragments such as scenes from a building site – merging them into a series of evocative, ghostly still photographs, each conveying their own complex story.
