The 18th Altenburg Photo Auction takes place at Berlin's Hotel Honigmond on 30 November 2013, starting at 15.00. More than one-hundred predominantly black and white photographs will be on offer, including a number of works by Leica photographers.
Founded in 2004, the Altenburg Auction house is dedicated to both classic modernism as well as the works of contemporary artists, with photographs of the former GDR representing a particular focal point. Twenty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, this genre is increasingly gaining attention: around a quarter of the Auction's catalogue consists of works by East German artists.
