Switzerland’s Fotomuseum Winterthur honours the work of female war photographers with a major group exhibition. The showcase opens on February 29, continuing until May 24, 2020.
From the Spanish Civil War, World War II and the Vietnam War to more recent international conflicts in the Balkans, Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya: Fotomuseum Winterthur honours some of the most remarkable and widely published female war photographers of the past 90 years, whose work continues to have a profound impact on viewers to this day.

Titled Women War Photographers – from Lee Miller to Anja Niedringhaus, the showcase is composed of some 140 images taken between 1936 and 2011. The represented photojournalists and documentary photographers are Carolyn Cole (b. 1961), Françoise Demulder (1947–2008), Catherine Leroy (1944–2006), Susan Meiselas (born 1948), Lee Miller (1907–1977), Anja Niedringhaus (1965–2014), Christine Spengler (born 1945) and Gerda Taro (1910–1937).
