The Most Quiet Time of the Year

December 24, 2021

The group exhibition ‘Winter’ continues at Johanna Breede Photokunst in Berlin until March 11, 2022.
Winter is replete with memories. The crunching sound of firn under your boots; wondrous patterns of frost on the windows; the gentle sight of early snowdrops. Most of all, winter is a time when the world becomes more quiet, in sounds as well as colours. Grey light, white fields, black branches. The countenance of winter is monochromatic and rich in contrasts, yet simultaneously deeply nuanced. For this latest group exhibition, Berlin gallerist Johanna Breede has curated a multi-faceted impression of the quietest time of the year. With great attention to detail, Breede amalgamates different aesthetic approaches and visual styles into a little kaleidoscope of winter.

Continuing until March 11, 2022, the exhibition includes works by Nomi Baumgartl, Lilian Birnbaum, Herbert List, René Groebli Stefan Moses and Thomas Hoepker, and others.
