Jana Sophia Nolle: ‘Living Room, San Francisco & Berlin’, 3rd prize, Best Photo Series 2021
VONOVIA AWARD FOR PHOTOGRAPHY
The Vonovia contest is open to both professional photographers and emerging new talent. Endowed with a total of 42,000 euros, it ranks among Germany’s most substantial photography awards. Participation is free of charge. Submissions must comprise at least six, but no more than twelve single images taken within the past three years, which have not been selected for any previous awards.
In the ‘Best Photo Series’ category, the winners are awarded 15,000 euros (1st prize), 12,000 euros (2nd prize) and 10,000 euros (3rd prize). The winner of the ‘Best Newcomer’ category (aimed at photographers under the age of 26) stands to receive 5,000 euros.
The contest encourages a broad spectrum of visual approaches and the use of innovative techniques – both analogue and digital – within the medium of photography. A jury of accomplished experts from the fields of photography, journalism, business and academia will compile a shortlist of 33 finalists. The winning works of the contest’s previous editions have been exhibited in art museums and galleries, including renowned institutions such as the Sprengel Museum in Hanover and the Kunstmuseum Bochum.
