Areas of individuality

March 7, 2015

From March 13 to April 2, 2015, the f75 Gallery in Stuttgart is presenting the "Das Würzburger Zimmer" exhibition of works by Johannes Marburg.
Starting March 13, the f75 Gallery in Stuttgart is presenting the Das Würzburger Zimmer (The Würzburg Room) exhibition of works by Johannes Marburg. Born in 1969, Marburg had been commissioned to photograph the aged Mensa in Würzburg – built in 1978 by Alexander von Branca – before it was due for a complete renovation.

Places of retreat between air ducts
While working on this assignment, Marburg discovered a number of small, private areas in the building's basement. These little niches inspired him to produce the series titled Das Würzburger Zimmer. They show places where, over the years, building employees had created their own personal retreats, tucked away within the labyrinth of water pipes, heating and air ducts.
