The exhibition ‘FISH TOWN. 1990 to 2020. The EU Years’, on display at the Humber Gallery in Grimsby from July 8 to 10, 2022, illustrates the transformation of the fishing industry in the Lincolnshire port town – first by the introduction of the new EU legislation in 1990 and, subsequently, by Britain’s exit from the European Union in 2020. Steve Thornton’s impactful, monochrome series captures the unique community and way of life of those working in the docks, and shows Grimsby’s evolution from a traditional fishing town into a high-tech, global seafood trading port.

A new, 256-page photo book of the same title will be launched at the exhibition.
