Leica Gallery São Paulo

The first Leica Gallery in South America is opening this evening in São Paulo! The initial exhibition, Del Mondo, presents pictures by Andy Summers. With the impressive series on display, Summers, a musician and former guitarist of The Police, offers proof of his photographic talent. He will be present at the inauguration.

The new Leica Gallery is located in the Higienópolis district and is managed by Luiz Marinho. To allow for more space for photographs, two containers on site add 200 square metres to the exhibition area. The venue also has room for a Leica Boutique and an outdoor area offers the possibility of open air exhibitions. A comprehensive programme of tours, workshops and autograph sessions has also been planned.

Andy Summers’ first photo book appeared back in 1983. Some of the pictures from that book – in particular impressions from his journeys – are also part of the current exhibition.
