Being Human

February 1, 2017

The exhibition ‘Ensauvager le Monde’ with works by Chinese photographer Liu Tao opens at the Folia Gallery in Paris on 2 February 2017.
From 3 February 2017, the Folia Gallery in Paris presents the exhibition Ensauvager le Monde by Liu Tao. The finissage on 30 March 2017 will be attended by the artist himself.

The show is the Chinese photographer’s first solo exhibition in Europe, and encompasses three major photo series created in recent years: A Weak Road (2012), Hungry Beijing (2013) and Shanghai Tian Wai (2014). Characterised by Liu Tao’s unique photographic approach, the series convey man’s immediate, physical experience of his environment – from the loneliness on the vast shopping boulevards of Shanghai to our primeval naked state and man’s enduring hope for the future.

Liu Tao (born 1985) lives and works in Beijing. He is counted among the most promising artists of his generation. His series A Weak Road was previously awarded at the Shanghai Youth Biennale, while Shanghai Tian Wai was honoured with the Bourse du Talent 2016 in the category of reportage photography in 2014.
