For his project "terra arMEnia", photographer Erol Gurian (born 1964) portrayed Armenian exiles in their new homes across the world, such as Paris, Los Angeles, Munich, Cologne and Beirut.
Speaking with his subjects about their memories, he asked each of them about places in their original homeland that carried a particular story or personal meaning. Gurian then visited – and photographed – these locations during his travels through Armenia.
The exhibition "terra arMEnia" now combines the portraits with images of the subjects' favourite places in Armenia, along with texts offering a personal description of each location.
Documentary film maker Blake Lewis accompanied Gurian throughout the entire project. The resulting film, titled "Making of terra arMEnia", will be shown as part of the exhibition.
