Early Colour Photography

January 10, 2015

Museum Schloss Moyland presents vintage photographs in “Around the World: Colour photography before 1914”. From January 18 to April 26, 2015.
A fascinating photographic, artistic and historic treasure of images was created when, from 1908 on, upon the urging of the banker Albert Kahn (1860–1940), numerous photographers as well as cinematographers travelled through Europe, Asia, America and Africa. Over the course of two decades, they used innovative methods to produce colour pictures of local scenes and daily life, of people in traditional garb, of architectures and art historic monuments as well as arts and crafts objects. These pictures are now of great ethnographic and artistic-documentary importance.

In addition, the presentation of these colour photographs relate to the Museum’s own collection of early photography.
