I am a Man

From 17 October 2017 to 6 January 2019, the Pavillon Populaire in Montpellier, Southern France, presents the exhibition ‘I am a Man. Photographs and struggles for civil rights in the South of the United States, 1960-1970’
With the exhibition I am a Man, which will be on display at the Pavillon Populaire from 17 October 2017 to 6 January 2019, the venue’s curators present their final showcase dedicated to this year’s central theme: the connection between photography and history. The show encompasses works by 17 photographers who documented the struggles of African Americans, and their fight for equal rights in the Southern States during the 1960s and 1970s.
