The Photolux Festival is set to take place in Tuscany from November 16 to December 8, 2019 – once again offering exquisite exhibitions and a host of accompanying events.

More than 20 exhibitions will be on display during this year’s Photolux Festival, showcased in six locations in the heart of Lucca. The programme also features numerous events such as portfolio reviews, seminars and workshops. Belgian photographer Tomas van Houtryve, who was shortlisted for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2019, will share his expertise in a workshop organised together with Leica Akademie.

This year’s festival edition revolves around the overall theme of ‘New Worlds’. The showcased projects are dedicated to the concept of exploring new frontiers, such as the series ‘Mars Mission’ by Joan Fontcuberta. Other represented artists include Abbas, Vincent Delbrouck, Dmitry Markov, Davide Monteleone, Paulo Coqueiro and Udo Hesse.

The city’s magnificent Palazzo Ducale will host the exhibition ‘Magnum Revolution’ – featuring works by Magnum photographers ranging from René Burri to Larry Towell, from Josef Koudelka, Susan Meiselas, Stuart Franklin and Bruno Barbey to Alex Majoli and Paolo Pellegrin.
