Visual Leader 2015

September 24, 2015

For the 13th time the Haus der Photographie der Deichtorhallen Hamburg presents nominees and winners of the 'LeadAwards'. 25 September through 9 November, 2015.
Exciting picture series, fascinating photos, original advertisements, creative websites, and much more, in short the best of what German magazines had to offer in 2014, is going to be presented with “VisualLeader”. The exhibition encompasses all the works that last year won one of the coveted LeadAwards, Germany’s top print and online media award. It reflects current topics and latest world news: Impressive editorial work on the drama of the refugees, moving images from the trouble spots around the globe and also joyful moments from the soccer world cup or the fall of the Berlin wall.

An independent jury of experts combs through the entire year’s issues of around 600 German magazines and picks out prize-worthy articles. A high-profile jury then judges and evaluates them, ensuring a completely independent and truly comprehensive judgment.

Those awarded Gold, Silver or Bronze awards can rightly claim to be among the best of the best.

As such, the exhibition “VisualLeader” takes stock of the German creative scene. It highlights trends, sets standards for the future, and provides impulses for more innovation in print and online media. It shows what we can expect to see soon, and what will be here to stay.

Photographic works by Roger Ballen, Thomas Demand, Roni Horn, Richard Prince, Cindy Sherman, Collier Schorr and Thomas Struth.

Giulio Rimondi’s series "Transient Home", which appeared in LFI 3/2015, has been nominated for a LeadAward in the category Architecture and Still Life Photography.
