Sourav Das is the main winner of this year’s Global Peace Photo Award. The Indian photographer stands to receive € 10 000 for an image from his reportage ‘A Small yet Great Victory Over the Pandemic’: during the education emergency caused by the global Covid-19 pandemic, Indian teacher Deepnarayan Nayak started an initiative to transform the walls of the houses in his village into blackboards.

Further winners of the Global Peace Photo Awards 2022 include Leica photographer and 2021 LOBA winner Ana Maria Arévalo Gosen, who was honoured for her series ‘Sinfonía desordenada’, Russian photographer and winner of the 2018 LOBA Newcomer Award, Mary Gelman (chosen for her series ‘M+T’), Iranian photographer Maryam Firuzi (‘The Scattered Memories of Distorted Future’), and Ukrainian photographer Artem Humilevski, who was selected for his project ‘Giant’.

Among this year’s shortlisted entries was the series ‘Next Generation’ by Leica photographer Toby Binder – whose reportage ‘#053 Kids’ has previously been featured in LFI 2/2022.
