From 1 January to 31 May 2019, professional photographers from all around the world are invited to enter their work for the international Felix Schoeller Photo Award.

Since its introduction in 2013, the Felix Schoeller Photo Award ranks among Germany’s most prestigious photography prizes. The contest, which is held every two years, is aimed at emerging and established professional photographers from around the world. The submission period for the 2019 edition starts on 1 January and ends on 31 May 2019.

The contest is divided into five categories: ‘Portrait’, ‘Landscape/Nature’, ‘Fashion’, ’Photojournalism/Editorial’, and ‘Free Choice/Conceptual Photography’. In addition, the special category ‘Best Work by an Emerging Photographer’ recognises the work of promising student or trainee photographers. In 2017, the Felix Schoeller Photo Award attracted some 2,400 entries from 92 countries.

For the first time, the 2019 edition will also feature the ‘German Peace Prize for Photography’ – designed to honour projects that conceptually interpret the topic of ‘peace’ through the medium of photography. Organised by the ‘Friedensstadt’ (City of Peace) of Osnabrück, its museum district, and the Felix Schoeller Group, the prize will be introduced as a new special category of the Felix Schoeller Photo Award. The winning and shortlisted projects for the ‘German Peace Prize for Photography’ will be showcased in a dedicated exhibition at the Osnabrück museum district from 20 October 2019. The winner is set to receive €10,000.
