From 2 December 2017 to 31 January 2018, the Malian capital Dakar celebrates the medium of photography with the biennial Rencontres de Bamako festival. This 11th edition is curated by German-born Cameroonian Marie-Ann Yemsi.
A wide range of exhibitions – among them the Pan-African group exhibition Afrotopia, a solo show by photography pioneer James Barnor, and the outdoor show Independence Remixed by the festival’s young African guest curator, Justin Davy – promise visitors a spectacular visual journey.
The programme also includes exciting projects such as the Ciné Photomobil, along with workshops, masterclasses and debates. In addition, prizes totalling over 10,000 euros will be awarded within the context of this vibrant festival event.
