From 18 March to 7 May 2016, the Hiltawsky Gallery in Berlin presents the first solo exhibition by Finish artist Ville Kansanen (born 1984). The show encompasses 20 colour photographs from his recent series 'The Procession of Spectres', produced in 2015. The images create a complex tension between majestic landscapes, surreal structures and the artist's inner self.
Boundless, Powerful, Comforting
Kansanen's work confronts the viewer with the overpowering, seemingly infinite presence of an untouched natural world. Despite exuding a sense of loneliness and isolation, his images are never without hope, but convey a comforting melancholy.
