Dominique Teufen and Nuno Andrade have been selected as the winners of this year’s
HSBC Photography Award. Their outstanding entries will be presented at the Voies Off Gallery in Arles, South of France, from 1 July to 31 August 2019.
With her series ‘My travels through the world on my copy machine’, Swiss photographer Dominique Teufen takes the viewer on an imaginary journey through illusory landscapes – conjured up in the artist’s studio with a skilful blend of fantasy, everyday objects and an office photocopier.
The series ‘Ginjal’ by Nuno Andrade (born 1974 in Lisbon) explores the themes of passion, old age and loneliness through compelling images taken in a Portuguese dance hall for senior citizens.
Both series have been released as monographs, published by Éditions Xavier Barral. This collaboration, and the publication of the winning entries in book form, have been part of the award for the past two years.
