STEP BY STEP TO THE LEICA MASTER SHOTS:
I want to upload a picture and propose it for the Master Shots. How do I go about it?
Sign up at the LFI Gallery. Then go to the menu and choose “Upload” to upload your photographs. While uploading, you can choose one of the Master Shots albums in the dropdown menu. Choose the one corresponding to your camera system: “M”, “S”, “X” and so on. You can register here.
I want to propose a photo from one of my albums for the Master Shots. How do I do that?
You have to go to the photo editing level. You can do it with the pen icon. When you call up the album then pass the mouse over the surface of the picture in the picture overview, the pen icon appears at the bottom of the picture. Alternately you can find the pen icon by going to the individual picture and choosing the “Picture Info” option. Click on the pen icon and then you will reach the editing level. Here there is a dropdown menu where you can choose the camera model and then submit the picture for the Master Shots.
Should the EXIF data be included?
Absolutely! EXIF data contains essential information about the photo. You can view the EXIF information when you right click on your picture and check the “Properties” section. If the EXIF data of your picture has been deleted for whatever reason, then you need to also give the camera, lens, aperture and ISO in the picture description. In the case of scanned pictures, the EXIF doesn't give the camera type, so please give that information with the picture description. Please mention the place and time the picture was taken as well.
I used to have to upload a picture twice. What has changed now?
We have relaunched the website and made it easier for the user to navigate. You now no longer have to upload a picture twice if you want to put it in your own albums and also submit it for the Master Shots. You can simply use the same picture.
Do all my pictures appear in the Master Shots albums?
Not necessarily. To start with, a jury selects the best submissions. For this reason, it may take a while for the pictures to appear in our Master Shots albums. Did your photo not end up in our elite class? That can happen – in which case you'll find the picture back in your Inbox. Create your own album, so that your images can be proudly and stylishly presented in the LFI Gallery.
What format should my pictures have?
Our server only accepts files up to 3MB max, and works best with JPEGs. You will probably need to reduce the size of each picture and save them as new JPEGs. If the picture is still larger than 3MB after reduction, try reducing the JPEG quality a little.
How many pictures can I include?
We have put no limit. However, less is sometimes more – so try to make sure your truly outstanding images don't get lost in the crowd. Look around for the pearls in your archives or on your hard disk and let us see them.
My picture was removed from the Master Shots. What happened?
Masses of class is impressive, but visitors to the site are quickly overwhelmed. For this reason we 'prune' the Master Shots on a regular basis.
Do I give up my rights when my picture is uploaded into a Master Shots album?
No! You give us the right to show your pictures on our site – after all, that's the purpose for uploading them on our site in the first place. You can continue to publish your pictures in other places, but you can't give exclusive rights to them to another party as long as they are visible on our server. We do not pass on your pictures without authorization. You can remove pictures from our server at any time – send us an email to: gallery(at)lfi-online.de and give us your user name as well as the name of the picture.
There is something I haven't understood. Who can I ask?
Do you have general questions about the LFI Gallery? Maybe you can find the answers at FAQ. Otherwise, please send an email to the site administrator at: gallery(at)lfi-online.de.
