The photographer William Keo grew up on the outskirts of Paris, in the shadow of grim apartment blocks where poverty, drugs and violence define everyday life. Yet Keo has no desire to condemn his neighbourhood. His powerful images speak equally of beauty and moments of joy. This is how he sees the banlieue: a place of contrasts.
