Oil wells in Qayyarah, Iraq, burned continuously up until 2017. Countless people lost their homes and suffered risks to their health. The consequences to the environment were serious. Édouard Elias documented the people extinguishing the fires, which required an overwhelming strength, power and resilience on all sides.
