Untitled Horrors

June 1, 2014

Kunsthaus Zurich presents a retrospective exhibition by renowned photography artist Cindy Sherman, open from 6 June to 14 September 2014
Cindy Sherman (born 1954) has enjoyed a long and remarkable career, with her works being shown in many of the world's leading museums. Kunsthaus Zurich is the city's first venue to present Sherman's work in a solo exhibition. Untitled Horrors focuses on the grotesque and gruesome aspects of the artist's work, spanning her entire career from early days to her most recent projects.

The earliest photographs on display date back to 1975 – taken in Sherman's home with the aid of an external shutter release. Even at that stage, the photographer was inhabiting shifting identities, and dramatising characters of either gender. These rarely-seen early works make up a significant part of the exhibition, allowing the viewer to rediscover and appreciate the full scope of Sherman's body of work.
