Love American Skin

With impressive images, Love American Skin tells the story of Diana Scheunemann's journey throughout and under the skin of her adopted homeland.

Born in 1975, Diana Scheunemann travelled by car for eight weeks with her husband, moving clockwise through 21 US states. Over a period of 60 days, she photographed and interviewed 60 people she met along the way: in diners, on street corners and on verandas.

Her curiosity and open approach allowed her to capture images both intimate and free of any prejudice. The outcome is something of a declaration of love – a multi-faceted kaleidoscope of a lesser-known America.
