On September 28, 2014, the Fotostiftung Schweiz in Winterthur is organizing a special guided tour with the artist Stephan Schenk and the curator Martin Gasser, through the '1914/18 – Bilder von der Grenze' and '1914/18 – Stephan Schenk, Kreuzweg' exhibitions that will remain on display till October 12, 2014.

In Switzerland, the years of border occupation between 1914 and 1918 resulted in a special genre of visual and written documentation: the photographic postcard. In recent years, the Fotostiftung Schweiz has collected together over 1000 of these touching testimonies of an era, which are now being evaluated for the first time.

In addition to this exhibition, Stephan Schenk (born 1962) is showing his Kreuzweg series: 14 photos of the biggest battle grounds of the First World War – in both Europe and beyond. Installed on the walls of the exhibition spaces, the images offer material for another form of associative, emotional and non-documentary commemorative culture.

Tickets: CHF 10.-/8.-, no reservation necessary.
